I must applaud myself for being pretty grown-ish about handling my new food habits.
Think that’s something I can put on my CV?
Eating healthy is something I do regularly, but only because the doctor ordered ‘H-E-A-L-T-H-Y’ on the menu and forgot to add fast food on the order. You see, last August my body started acting out in the worst way possible and my tummy became a ticking bomb waiting to blow off after every meal. I only realised how bad my snacking was till I was sitting across a bespectacled man looking at me remorsefully as he delivered the worst news possible to me.
Now I have always been one to binge watch Grey’s Anatomy and so I always ask a ton of questions to doctors (like didn’t Dr Grey talk about that in that last episode of Grey’s?) So obviously, I asked him what he expected me to eat since he basically threw my breakfast, lunch and dinner out the window with no remorse. And the good doctor just smiled and gave me a long list of every food item I secretly fed my dog growing up-the GROSS kind.
I will take this moment to eye-roll all those people that make eating vegetables at lunch uber fab and totally effortlessly. When you used to having a juicy burger and a fizzy drink at lunch it’s so hard to settle for chicken salad or just a regular salad on a broke day. I will not sugar coat it, I am not Willy Wonka but adding broccoli, spinach, and beetroot to your Eatctionary doesn’t happen overnight. It’s okay to fail to add vegetables to your diet on the regular don’t believe what you read online it doesn’t happen overnight.
There are times when you can catch me drooling at those yummy Romany Cream biscuits but I have to reach for the crackers so I can keep my bod in tip top shop. Before that thought crosses your mind, let me crush it already- I can eat Romany Cream biscuits and fast food but not like on the reg. Like who moved my plate? Where did my pork chop and greasy chips go to? Who put this veggie stir fry on my plate?
A change of lifestyle can be so hard but you don’t have to do it in a day. It’s okay to reward your healthy eating and workouts with a double cheese burger or dunked wings –after all you are not perfect.
Here is to green juices, salads and staying hydrated lifts coffee cup…
Till next time….
