Rae Sremmurd have made a name for themselves with their catch sing-along hits which they have been churning out since their No Flex Zone days. They seemed to have just hit a lucky streak until Black Beatles cemented their place as Hip-Hop’s new rockstars and the hits didn’t stop there.
Back with new singles for SremmLife 3 (stylized as SR3MM)in 2018 and they have released the singles Power Glide, T’d Up, Chanel but they are credited strangely. Power Glide, for example, is credited as Rae Sremmurd feat. Swae Lee, Slim Jxmmi and Juicy J but we all know that Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi ARE Rae Sremmurd so WTF?
Swae Lee attempts to explain below. I’ll add my 2 cents after.
Understood that? Yes? No? Let me break it down. SR3MM will be a triple disc album (or 3 albums-in-, whatever floats your boat). There will be the Rae Sremmurd album “SR3MM“, the Swae Lee album “Swaecation” and the Slim Jxmmi album “Jxmmtro“.
Basically what they are doing is releasing three albums at once, a group album and their own solo albums. After the mega hit that was Unforgettable and talk about how Swae should go solo it was inevitable that we’d get a Swae Lee album. Someone at Ear Drummers (Mike Will maybe) thought, instead of releasing just a Swae Lee album why not release a Rae Sremmurd album (never mess with a working formula) and a Slim Jxmmi album as well (which, truthfully, we wouldn’t have been checking for), all packaged as one album.
This might be compared to what Outkast did on Speakerboxx/The Love Below. Although OutKast’s was a double disc this is a triple disc, pretty ambitious but judging Rae Sremmurd’s history (their previous albums all went platinum) and Swae Lee’s rising star power the least they can get is triple platinum.
