Zimbabwean superstar Jah Prayzah continues to take over the continent one collaboration at a time. After Watora Mari (with Diamond Platnumz), Sendekera (with Mafikizolo), My Lily (with Davido) he returns with another collaboration, this time with Nigerian superstar Yemi Alade, with Nziyo Yerudo off his latest album Kutonga Kwaro.
Given that Yemi Alade has garnered a strong Zimbabwean following after her breakout hit Johnny, this collaboration had been received already with open arms before it was even released.
Nziyo Yerudo (Shona for Love Song) sees Jah Prayzah singing a love song for Yemi Alade (yes!) as he references how he used to listen to her songs on the radio and wishes that she would become his wife.
Yemi Alade’s Shona here is surprisingly on point, which may actually put some native Shona speakers to shame, with some going as far as stating that she is Zimbabwean. I applaud the dedication she takes to sing in other languages (including Swahili and French).
This is a beautiful song, which I would recommend as a candidate for an African Award nomination.
Godfather Productions made sure the visuals are nice, crisp and enable a lot of replay.
I’ll be back with my review of the Jah Prayzah album but you can get on iTunes on the link below. Bless.
